Adam Smith Foundation Praises House Members for Acting to Prevent Judicial Taxation in Missouri . Calls on Missourians to Contact Senators
(Jefferson City) - Adam Smith Foundation leaders today applauded the Missouri House for moving one step closer to preventing judicial taxation in Missouri.
House Joint Resolution 41, sponsored by Representative Jane Cunningham, would prevent courts in Missouri from imposing tax increases as judges in other states, including Kansas and Arkansas, have done. Adam Smith Foundation spokesperson Kurt Killen called HJR 41 .a common sense step in the direction of affirming the principles established during the Revolution and the Boston Tea Party: Taxation without representation is fundamentally offensive to America.s fundamental values..
Killen urged Missourians to contact their state senator and encourage them to support final passage of HJR 41. If approved by the Senate, HJR 41 would give Missourians the opportunity to vote on whether the prohibition on judicial taxation should be incorporated into Missouri.s Constitution.
