FREE SPEECH UNDER ATTACK

Contact your local Senator and urge them to oppose HB 1763. The bill, which has already been passed by the House and is now near passage in the Senate, presents a serious threat to free speech by making it more difficult for hard working Missourians to amend the constitution. The constitution is the ultimate voice of the people and, as we have witnessed in recent years, there are some issues that are so important they must be decided directly by the people.

Unfortunately, too many legislators disagree. But why?

The sponsors and supporters of HB 1763 would like to cut the people out of the constitutional amendment process because they believe only legislators should have this important right. By making the amendment process more difficult, they threaten to turn the entire amendment process over to wealthy and powerful special interest groups and consultants who have resources to manipulate even the more difficult process. Contact your Senator and let them know the ability to amend the constitution is important and that restricting that ability will only bring harm to Missouri.
